PhD candidate

School of Life and Environmental Sciences, Deakin University.

With an interest in ecology, earth science, environmental management and palaeontology, Anja is taking a critical look through a multi-disciplinarian lens to disentangle human interests from nonhuman animals’ interests. Through this approach her research aims at constructing a clear, conceptual framework where animals’ interests and as the central pillar. Anja is curious if shifts in perception from human to nonhuman would challenge the way we think about animals and the biological and urban environments that we share with them. The driver behind Anja’s research interests is a conviction that the successful outcomes of bio conservation and protection efforts begin with a more compassionate shift in terms of our values, attitudes, and behaviours towards our fellow animals.
