Bill in Great Smoky Mountains National Park by Bill

Associate Professor

Environmental Management & Sustainability, Deakin University

Bill Borrie is a conservation social scientist with a specific focus on the values, experiences, and management of nature. My writings have raised questions around wildness, technology, ‘disneyfication’, primitiveness, emancipation, and sanctuary. I’ve conducted research in protected areas such as Yellowstone National Park, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and the Artic National Wildlife Refuge. I am a Fellow of the Academy of Leisure Sciences. ORCiD:https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3788-5220
